TALES FROM "BOB THE BEAVER"

"Luv Bites"

by Bob the Beaver

Everyone with kids has had their hair stand straight on end over a shrieking cry from another room in the lodge.

Sure enough at two years old, "Babs" showed me that she can holler louder and longer than a screaming eagle!  And there is no doubt whose teeth made the red welt on her paw!

The first time this happened, "Buckey's" pants flew off and my tail landed a bright red welt on his pooch. But then I had two kids a hollerin and "Barb" staring at me with the wrath of a wolverine in her eyes.

Several days later it was "Buckey's scream that sent chills down my back. "Babs" had drawn blood with her bite. "Buckey's" slap in retaliation instantly generated screams from "Babs". As I comforted and cleaned my son's wound amidst all this weeping and crying, I tried to figure out what to do. I felt like crying myself.

That's it! I was so sad that I let my tears and sobbing flow. Instantly, they both became silent. They realized that they had hurt Dad with their actions. They both came to me and started to hug me to get me to stop crying - I had them now!

I told them how sad they made me feel when they hurt each other. I told them how sad I felt when I gave "Buckey" his spanking. I told them how much I loved them, even though they did terrible things to each other. And I told them how much I hate what they did to each other.

When I asked them what punishment they deserved, they asked for no watching the fish play for a week. So, to show my love I suggested only no fish watching until tomorrow night.

They never bit each other again, so whenever we cuddle I always give them a tiny "Luv Bite" to show how much I love them.
